Eat in Malta
That's really boring to make the shop. In Malta the food is more expensive than in France. For example, the big Nutella's pot is around five euros. That's why at the apartment with Alexander , we always buying pastas for the dinner. ( That's very rare someone who like to always eat pastas every days. The stock of pastas that you can see on the picture is for around 2 weeks !
Sometime we haven't anymore food to eat for the dinner, we have to go buy some things to save us alive !!
Of course we have a stock of Water but it's principally reserved only for the Saturday morning !

Swim in Malta
Yes you can Swim in a Swimming-Pool , but do you really make that error in Malta ? Some people I have met tell me that ... "The sea is too cold for moment" Eh ...? In May , the water's temperature was approximalty at 18°C. To me, water was already very sweet.
Today we are at the end of the June, almost in July. It's the beginning of the tourist's invasion.
When i go to the beach to make my training every day after the work, there are again tourists on the beach.
Just for information, the water's temperature in July will be at 26°C, as in August. That's just perfect.
But, we aren't alone to enjoy the water's temperature, Jellyfish are present and it'll be more present next month...For moment I saw 3 jellyfish " Pelagia noctiluca" when I was swimming. These jellyfish are very beautiful , especially when they become phosphoresce.phosphorescephos es

The country's culture
The Malta's story is very nice , and interesting to know but complex to explain. I'll describe you the most important points that you have to know about the Malta's history.
- In 60 A.D , St Paul was shipwrecked on the island while traveling in Italy. He brought the Christianity in Malta.
-Until 1530 Malta was an extension of Sicily, lot of conquerants ( Normans,Aragones) gouverned the Maltese Islands.
- It was Charles V who bequeathed Malta to the Sovereign Military Order of St. John of Jerusalem who ruled over Malta from 1530 to 1798. The Knights took Malta through a new golden age, making it a key player in the cultural scene of 17th and 18th century Europe.
- In 1798, Napoleon Bonaparte made a war and took the control of the Malta Island. Morever Napoleon took Maltese knights to go in Egypte to conquer the territory and the East.
- The french presence was very short because the english requested by the Maltese people to help them against the French. That's why in 1800' They blocked the Malta Island.
- In 1964 that's the end of the Bristish domination. Malta Islands became Independant
We can notice that the Maltese adapted the British system of administration, education and legislation.
- In 1974 , Malta became a Republic within the British Commonwealth.
- In 2004 Malta has joined European Union and adopted the Euro in 2008.
The language :
At first, you have to know that the Maltese language is became an official language in 1934. They had replaced int the Italian by the English. The most parts of Maltese people can speak English ( 88% of them), 66% Italian , and 17% French.

Religion :
In the Malta Islands, the religion is very important. The Maltese people are Catholic. You can see lot of different churchs with design to breathtaking. I will not write all the story of the religion in Malta because it's too long. People say that there is 365 churches in Malta ( according to the same days number in one year). Morever, Churches in Malta are considered to be great works of art, both in terms of architectures as well as their embellished interior adorned with paintings, scultures and luxurious artefacts.

Healthcare :
Like you know, Malta is a rock in the sea, everything have to be import. The Healthcare are very expensive and repay. You can find both public and private hospitals on the Island. The most recent hospital is "Mater Dei" at Msida ( I'm living at 2 minutes close to this hospital). Since his creation , this hospital get a nice reputation , and became fastly the number 1 in Malta.

Festivity :
Maltese people like to organize Festivities. There are a lot of events, festival or traditions during all the year. For example concert , music festivals, carnival... They like to remember their history in the past, and be proud of their independant country.
Organisation of Works :
The organisation of works in Malta is a bit diferent to the France. People start the work very early ( from around 6 am) but finish in the afternoon. During the noon, Maltese people don't eat a lot , it's often a little sandwich to not spend time for nothing. I think that the majority are in the work-buildings field.

At work :
In my work, i can come at the office when i want , but before 9 am and it's same for the end of the day. I can leave the work totally when i want. Of course, I have to adapt that about my work ' to-do'. If I have lot of tasks to do i will come early and will leave later. I often come at the office at 8 am to leave at 4 pm. It happens that I work during the evening because I want to continue my task to finish it according to the objective I fixed. In the company, my task are very diversified. My directors give me tasks to-do for them , and during the same time or just after, the social media manager and else colleagues give me some tasks for them.
A this moment, i have more responsibility every days. The work I create is directly sent to the clients as a proposal answer.

My apartment
I'm with Alexandre and a couple of spanish. When we arrived at Malta, we reserved with Alexandre a young Hostel center for 1 week. After, at the end of the week , we didn't found anything for the price we look for and the place. That's why we reserved a other week to get the time to found a apartment. On friday , i see a aparment on a Facebook group ' Share in Malta' it was very interessing. So i asked some questions about this and it was that we look for. It is situated at 20 meters of the young Hostel center in Sliema.
When we arrived at the apartment, it was not ready !!
They were still working in to finish work( install the toilet, bed, bathrooms). That's why the spanishes proposed to sleep in a apartment at the top to pending the end of the work.
2 days later, it was ready. We went to the right apartment with spanishes, everything is new. Inside, there is a bathroom, 1 bedroom with doublbeds separated ( i'm in that on with alexandre) , another bedroom for the spanishes, a lounge and 2 terraces ! I pay 225€ by month

Malta transport
![]() |
Malta transport ...What can we say about it ... a real disaster ? Malta transports are just catastrophic. The buses are really old, they are always lates and to conclude , we have to wait 30 minutes minimums to wait a bus betweet monday to friday and the saturday there is a bus every hours. That's not all ! When you wait your bus at the stop, it's not like Paris lines... If you don't tell the bus to stop for you , it will continue.
Morever, the bus will ignorate you if it is "full" ! I have to tell you that for them the word "full" is really different as in Paris...I think it may take another 7-8 more people in the bus.
What can i say about the driver ? They are just unsocial. They don't know how to say 'hello' or ' thanks'. To me , i think they meet a lot of tourists , that's why they become not polite.
I take every days Malta buses. The morning my bus is at 7.30 am i often take this one. If i miss it, it's not a real problem because i can come to the office when i want. I'm free but the work has to been finish correctly, quickly. That's why i often leave the office at 16 pm but i work a little the evening.
I arrived in Malta
[28/04/14]- Florent landed at Malta
My departure at Paris was at 6.25 a.m. The company was Luthfansa, I had a layover in Frankfurt. I arrived in Malta at 12. To me , the travel was very short, i talked with people in the plane and i slept like a baby.
When i arrived at the Malta airport, i took the bus to Sliema. The problem is that i didn't study where was my youth hostel... So when i saw that i was at Sliema , i went down at a stop. In total i walk during 2 hours and half to found the hostel.
Malta seems a city where people wake up very early to go to work. From 5 a.m i start listen people who are preparing to go at work. When i walked a long time in the street to discover the area, i saw a lot of sites building or renovation. To me, the most parts of workers are in a building company. Everywhere i gone, i've seen building sites.
I feel there are already lot of tourists, but in fact it's just a false impression. I spoke with a maltese in the street, and when i said that, we smiled... According to them, for the moment there isn't tourists. It's empty. He makes me easily understand that from now, every week-end there will be more and more tourists. In july / August it will be full. But full isn't necessarily negative....
